Marching On.. + Training.. =)
For those days we felt like a mistake,
Those times when love's what you hate,
Somehow, we keep marching on..
For those nights when I couldn't be there,
I've made it harder to know that you know,
That somehow, we'll keep moving on..
There's so many wars we fought,
There's so many things we're not,
But with what we have,
I promise you that,
We're marching on..
For all of the plans we'd made,
There isn't a flag I'd wave,
Don't care if we bend,
I'd sink us to swim,
We're marching on..
For those doubts that swirl all around us,
For those lives that tear at the seams,
We know, we're not what we've seen..
For this dance we'll move with each other,
There ain't no other step than one foot right in front of the other..
There's so many wars we fought,
There's so many things we're not,
But with what we have,
I promise you that,
We're marching on..
For all of the plans we'd made,
There isn't a flag I'd wave,
Don't care if we bend,
I'd sink us to swim,
We're marching on..
We'll have the days we break,
And we'll have the scars to prove it,
We'll have the bonds that we save,
But we'll have the heart not to lose it..
For all the times we've stopped,
For all of the things we're not,
We put one foot in front of the other,
We move like we ain't got no other,
We go when we go,
We're marching on..
There's so many wars we fought,
There's so many things we're not,
But with what we have,
I promise you that,
We're marching on..
We're marching on..
Yes Guys, we have to continue marching on, no matter what setbacks we encounter!
Let's get a good result with a great team performance this fri..
Begin to prepare yourselves for it!
Live it, Fight for it, and Love it!
=)

4) Any other logistics..

Bring the balls to office if there is a need to pump the balls.

SUNIG GAME 1(postponed!!!!)
KO @ 7.30 pm. Be there by 6.30.
Bring PLAIN BLACK SHORTS and BLUE TRG TOP and MATRIC CARD. Jersey and socks will be provided.
4 months of preparation culminates with a tough opening fixture with SIM. No such thing as favourites on paper where the list of the past winners will illustrate:
2007: NTU
2008: SIM
2009: SMU
2010: ???
We must believe we can win it. The only way to win tomorrow is to play the game of our lives. The only way to win is to play as if tomorrow will be our last football game. The only way to win is to play together as a team with one heart. If we can do that, the result will take care of itself.
Pre-Game Preparations
1. Begin preparation the evening before the game. Eat a hearty meal consisting of low fats and high carbohydrates such as pasta, rice and lean meat.
2. Rest your body. Get a complete night's sleep on the evening before the game.
3.Give your body energy by eating a high-carbohydrate game-day meal. Eat this pre-game meal no later than three to four hours prior to game time to ensure that the food is absorbed into your system and that it is digested.
4. Hydrate your body. Drink water and sports drinks throughout the day to ward off any complications due to dehydration.
5. Snack on a banana, sports bar or apple an hour before the game to get an energy boost.
6. Mentally prepare yourself for the game. Visualize your actions and how you will handle yourself in game situations. Know the opposing team's strengths and weaknesses. Be confident and never be intimidated by the other team's win/loss record.

NTU vs NP
KO @ 7.30 pm. Be there latest by 6.45 pm.
Bring both Blue and Red Issued Tops with black shorts and socks.
Good performance and good result yesterday. We must keep up the good performance and now aim for consistency in our performance. For those who did not get to play or played very few minutes yesterday, my sincere apologies, but rest assured you will get a chance to prove your worth tomorrow. Since it's a Friday, i urge all of you to come early, get ready early and kick around before the match so that we are better prepared for the match.
This match is now even more important than our SRC friendly because any bad performance will render our good result yesterday as luck and will be quickly forgotten and will place us in a less than ideal position just 5 days before our opening match. Lets together deal with the pressure and get a result!
Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself.

NTU vs SRC
KO @ 7.30 pm. Be there latest by 6.45 pm.
Bring both Blue and Red Issued Tops with black shorts and socks.
This friendly is equally important as our opening SUNIG Fixture. No doubt SRC are favourites being a team comprising of ex-S League stars, but if newly promoted Hercules can beat the mighty millionaires of Barcelona at Nou Camp, then NTU beating SRC isn't that far fetched after all, isn't it? If it can happen at the highest level, who is to say it is not possible at the lower levels. Winning a game requires more than just big names, its requires teamwork, determination and hunger. Do we have it? If we do, it's high time we showcase it tomorrow. So peeps, Let's work hard, perform well and get a result. Thanks and See ya!

Allow me to post what I mentioned post match: Football is classified as the beautiful game for the joy and euphoria it brings us when we win, and utter diasppointment when we suffer a defeat.. To avoid any potential upset and heart wrench, let's work TOGETHER.. We now know that we're of a certain standard, the next step would be to push it to a higher level with every training.. Yes, let's take training more seriously, with the will and heart to achieve our goals this academic year..
To those who were displeased with their performance just now, don't worry.. It's human to err, what matters most is such that we learn and build a mental fortitude to propel us to better future displays.. So think it over, and ensure the subsequent time such a situation arise, you have it in your back pocket.. The day we stop wanting to improve and learn is the day we hang up our boots..
Lastly, BELIEVE in yourself, your ability, your strengths, your skill.. PLAY with heart, with intelligence and with purpose..
NIKE IS SEARCHING SINGAPORE FOR FOOTBALL'S BEST TALENT. ARE YOU THE ONE?
The chance is your opportunity to earn a place in the Nike Academy, a high performance training program supported by the English Premier League. For one year you will get to train with the pros and experience football at the higest level, with all expenses paid. You might even score a professional contract.

Friendly (30 August)
KO 7.45 pm
Red Black Black
Be ready by 7 pm as there is a briefing before the match.
Few things to take note:
There is no need to remind anyone of the defeat we suffered last thursday. However, I feel it is imperative for me to share some of the details of our(me and kennard) post match discussion with coach.
1. First of all, Coach was extremely disappointed with us. He said we did not look like a team but instead 11 individuals. Home United basically beat us just by doing what we did not do, work as a team. They pressed us together and that led to countless individual mistakes which culminated in 3 quick goals that sealed our fate.
2. Secondly, we failed to deliver the only philosophy Coach wanted us to follow since day one, keep possession of the ball. No more than 5 passes were made in the first half, although it was slightly better the start of the 2nd half, we just went back to throwing the ball away after getting the 2-1 lead. In this sense, it is quite similar to say that we have been training for nothing. All trainings, there is always emphasis on keeping the ball, and to be fair to us, we can do it well in training but during games, it just doesnt happen for us for some reason.
Keep the points above in mind as we approach the next game. It is clear all of us must up our game and more importantly work as a team from now onwards to firstly get a result against ITE tomorrow and of course in SUNIG.
Lastly and regretfully, Coach has mentioned he doesnt need all players 4 the match tomorrow so not all players who turn up will get to play. Please also note that this would be the last chance for some players to stay in the team as there would be another squad cut on 2nd September. Lets give our best tomorrow!

Update (edited)
Apologies again for the late sms for the cancellation of training yesterday. However, I want to address one point, if you are unhappy with ways certain things are done be it football related or otherwise, please feel free to approach anyone of us (Feroz, Kennard, Darren or even Coach) to voice your grievances. Do not resort to childish anonymous post on our blog. It would really not help our team spirit and would do more harm than good. Therefore, we wish to keep the blog solely for the relaying of information for anything associated with NTU soccer and not unnecessary stuffz. Hope you guys get my point. Thanks.

IMPORTANT UPDATES
7PM NTU MAIN PITCH
WEAR RED TOP (Black Shorts and Socks).
Be there by 6.20pm. Those that cannot make it or will be late, please post at the blog or text me.
There will be a Friendly match with Singapore Polytechnic this Friday instead of training. This would be a good opportunity for Coach and Team Manager to look at our team again. All players that have been training in the squad are strongly encouraged to turn up. As announced previously, we will be trimming the squad again this Friday and announcing the 2nd training squad list at the end of the match. However, please take note that not all players will be guaranteed playing time hence we seek your kind understanding on this. It is up to the players especially the new trainees to be present in order to have an opportunity to be called upon by Coach if needed.
For new trainees that have been with us for the past few sessions, please be reminded to submit your profile form by this Friday too for our records. Please also be reminded that players in the formal squad list with poor attendance records (less than 75%)and without providing valid reasons are risking their selection chances. Coach and Darren has spoken to quite a few players personally on this matter. As reiterated before, commitment to the team is paramount in order to be fair to everyone.
TRAINING SESSIONS FOR 1ST WEEK OF AUGUST
Fortunately, trainings for first week of August have been secured at NTU pitch.

Updates
IMPORTANT
Coach has informed me yesterday that he is planning to do the 2nd round of squad trimming at the end of this month. The squad would be trimmed to 22 players, however, as you might already know, this would not be the final SUNIG team. There would be one last round of trimming when the new boys join us when school reopens. The reason why coach has decided to do this squad trimming so soon after the first cut is due to the unavailability of field for trainings in the month of August(I'm sure you know why). As such, we will be playing mostly friendly games and therefore it would not be ideal if there are close to 30 players coming for the friendlies. We seek your understanding here.
I hope this heads up gives all of us an oppourtunity to mentally prepare ourselves. Therefore, I urge all of you to attend all the remaining training sessions for July as this would be the last chance for us to prove our quality to coach. Thanks.
IMPORTANT
Those who want to represent Singapore for Asean University Games in December this year, pls post on the COMMENTS section(Pls do not text me) the following:
Name:
Matric No:
School/Course:
Date of last paper:
Basically, AUG would be held from 14-23 Dec. If your exams end later than 14 dec,it is unlikely you would be able to go but you can still write to your own school to discuss the feasibility of you going to AUG. Official letter stating your representation would be available upon request. Also to add, to be considered for AUG , the level of commitment expected of you would be very much higher as players would be required to juggle NTU trgs and AUG trgs and of course schoolwork.

Attendance is compulsory for ALL players.
Our new team manager, Mr Darren and new coach will be down to talk to us. Preseason training details, targets for the season and etc will be addresed by Mr Darren and the new coach. More importantly, the trg session will offer a first glimpse for the new coach of the players available for the coming season. Therefore, it is important that you are able to attend. If you cannot make it due to unforeseen circumstances, please inform me DIRECTLY through a phonecall or sms. I really hope there would not be a situation whereby the new coach is shocked by poor attendance of 4 to 5 players for his very first trg session, so please cooperate. Thanks and see ya.

Run Around Singapore AGAIN
Dear student athletes,
It’s great to know that you have come on board to celebrate NTU 55th Anniversary by offering to run at the first station of the Run Round Singapore. The first station will be at the Chinese Heritage Centre and participants are expected to arrive at 7.15am, 27 March 2010. The run will be flagged off at 8.30am sharp.
The University really wants to start off this event with a big bang. Thus, a big turnout at the start is essential. Besides, a big turnout will be an additional motivation for the 9 core runners who will be attempting the full distance of 218km. As athletes, we know it is not an easy feat and so, let us give our utmost support to them by standing beside / behind / around them at the start point !
So, rain or shine, see you at the Chinese Heritage Centre this Saturday!
Reporting Details
Time: 7.15 am, Flag off for the run will be at 8.30 am.
Attire: Black Shorts with White NTU spirit jersey. Those who do not have it, a white T-shirt/jersey would suffice. Event will end as soon as we complete the run.

Run Round Singapore
As part of the university’s 55th anniversary celebrations, alumni, students, staff and supporters of NTU will be coming together to take part in a record-breaking 218km relay run, Run Round Singapore, which will be held from Sat 27 to Sun 28 March 2010. The start of the run will be on 27 March (Sat), 8.30am (flag-off time) at the Chinese Heritage Centre.
This event has a non-competitive mass relay section that involves members of the public. We as members of the NTU community have to set a good example by turning up in full force. We want a strong turnout in thousands at the start of the run.
The route of the first station is approximately 3.1km and it covers Nanyang Drive (CHC), turning left onto Lien Ying Chow Drive and all the way straight until just before NIE, turning right onto Nanyang Walk and then, turning right onto Nanyang Crescent and ending at the open field opposite the Graduate Hall.

Combined University / Jollilads Arsenal Trials
Here's a brief intro if you are clueless about this.
Combined Uni team a.k.a Jollilads Arsenal have been playing in National Football League (NFL) Div 2 for the past few seasons. NFL is the highest standard of amatuer football in Singapore and it's FAS sanctioned. There are 3 divisions with the top 2 and bottom 2 teams being promoted and relegated respectively at the end of the season. The aim of this is to provide university footballers with more exposure and match experience to ultimately increase the standard of university football so as to perform better in IVP. This year, NFL would also be used to prepare the uni players for the coveted Asean Uni Games.
Note that the NFL season will be from April to approximately September this year. Training will be tentatively once a week and game on weekends. (18 games, Home and Away).
For those who want to be considered for AUG @ Chiangmai in December this year, it is recommended that you tryout for the Combined Uni team. Graduating seniors who want to be considered for AUG could also join for the selections (though probably would not play in the NFL)
TRIAL DATES AND DETAILS:
- 24/2 (Wed), 7pm @ NUS (Friendly against NUS) – wear white top and dark shorts/socks
- 27/2 (Sat), tentatively 4pm @ NTU
- 4/3, (Thurs), 7.30pm @ NTU (Friendly)
- 6/3 (Sat), tentatively 4pm @ NTU
I hope to see as much NTU players as possible for the tryouts. The more players in Combined Uni, the better it is for NTU football. Pls reply or sms me if you have any queries. Thanks.

I believe that Mr Chiang has informed or spoken personally to those who have been left out of the 22. Selecting the final 22 is never an easy decision to make, as we are not able to accomodate many other committed players who put in effort to compete for their places. We all know how disappointing it can be to not be included.
For those not included in the final 22, we hope that you would still continue to offer your support to us throughout the IVP season. Your season does not end here, as there is still something to look forward to, be it going into NFL / AUG and so on. Dont let your efforts go to waste, but keep improving and show what you are made of in the challenges ahead.
Lastly, I hope not to see immaturity in anyone creating scenes on the tagboard. As mentioned, approach the appropriate people if you are unhappy over issues. Respect the decisions made.
