NTU Soccer News 1st Edition

Hi guys,

Please take your time to read and digest this post, especially point 1 and 2.

1. Please be reminded that team selection is not in August/September. It started 3 weeks ago, on the 25th of May 2011. The point is, we need your full commitment during trainings to allow coach to assess you adequately.


2. Please note that for this upcoming season, we will crucially look at attendance before selecting the final SUniG team. As discussed with team manager and coach, we will set a '80% attendance requirement' as a key factor for selection. That being said, it doesn't mean that you're definitely selected if you attended every training. Likewise, you can be the best player in the team, but if your attendance is abysmal you risk missing out.


3. Please be reminded to sign on the attendance list personally and diligently. Any other indication of your attendance other than your signature is not advisable. The attendance list is very important.


4. The 'Player Profile Form' is important for the consolidation of the available players. Hence for all new players who are already training with us, your completed form has to be submitted by the end of the week. Failure to do so will result in you not being on the official squad list.


5. There will be selection trials in August. However, if you know of any good players that wants to be in the team, please request them to report at our training sessions accordingly. All players must be eligible NTU students. All new players that make the effort to join us early inevitably benefits from it.


6. Due to the large number of equipment required for training, there will be 3 duty personnel each time. These 3 are expected to get the equipment ready on time. After training, everyone is expected to help clear the stores. Please remember to pump the balls before every training session. If you are assigned but somehow unable to make it for training, please get someone to cover your duty.


7. The onus is on you to check this blog regularly for training updates/changes and RSVP accordingly. Personal text messages will not be sent anymore unless it is very urgent.

Training Details (6 June - 10 June)

Hey guys,

For this coming week, there will only be one training session.

After this training, the next one will be on the 13th of June - a very long break indeed. Therefore, I urge you to do your own running (long distance, fartleks, intervals etc) or even swimming during the break so as to maintain your fitness. Let's not put all our past efforts to waste!

Training Updates for Week of 30th May - 3rd June

Hey guys, there are some changes to our training schedule:

1) From now onwards, trainings will start at 745pm sharp.
2) Training on the 8th of June is cancelled. There may be a 'make-up' training so do check out the blog for updates.


30th May (Monday) : 7.45pm - Blue, black, black

1st June (Wednesday) : 7.45pm - White, black, black

**Duty personnel to get equipments ready on time.
16 balls(pumped), 2 coloured bibs, cones, markers, ice (for injuries etc) & water
Also remember to empty and clear the ice boxes after training.


A few important administrative matters to take note:

1) Remember to sign on the attendance list for every training.
2) New members to submit your player profile form during the next training.
3) Training tops have been issued (Red and White). You can get it from Rajvin or myself.

Pre-Season Training (May-June 2011)

Hey guys, I hope everyone had a very successful semester. As the examination period comes to an end, it is now time for us to get back into shape and prepare for SUniG. I'm sure everyone knows how tough it was to win the title last season. This upcoming season, we are facing an even more challenging task of defending our title. Therefore, we have to take this pre-season training and conditioning seriously. Let's work together and push ourselves to greater heights! It starts now!

The training details are as follows:

25th May (Wednesday) : 7.15pm - Red, black, black

30th May (Monday) : 7.15pm - Blue, black, black

Warm up will start at 7.15pm sharp.
Please indicate your availability for the 2 dates above.


June Schedule: 1,6,8,13,15, 20, 22, 27, 29

If you are going to be away on vacation during this period, please indicate the dates too.

NEW APPOINTMENT HOLDERS

“As discussed with Coach Mani, the new captain that will be leading the team and coordinating the administrative matters will be Aidil. With several senior players graduating, Aidil is one of the more senior player in the squad now having played for the NTU team for the past year. His playing experience and contribution on the pitch will be extremely beneficial to the team. He will officially take over in April 2011 with all handing over procedure to be done during the month. His immediate task for our upcoming competition will be assisting in the recruitment of quality new players and coordinating the upcoming training sessions for the defence of our SUniG title. The true test of his captaincy on the pitch will be the first game that we will play once preparation commences. Let’s all give Aidil the full support in all matters related to NTU football and we also take this opportunity to thank Mr. Feroz Shah and Mr. Kennard Gan for their services on and off the pitch for the past year which included our victorious SUniG campaign. We are also appointing another leadership role in the form of a Team IC who will assist in all team coordination matters. Rajvin has kindly put himself forward for the role and has been appointed officially. Do note that training will commence earliest end May. A Vice-Captain during the competition will also be appointed once identified. The role of the Vice-Captain will be mainly to lead the team on the pitch with the Captain or in the absence of the Captain and assist with other matters during the competition if required. Cheers.”
